Introduction to World Languages
Exploratory - World Language in sixth grade explores the beginnings of what it is to read, write, speak and listen to French and Spanish. Along the way, students will be able to take a look at some of the cultures of the French and Spanish-speaking world. By the end of these weeks, students will have the tools and experience to choose one language to focus on in seventh and eighth grade.
Spanish 1 - Spanish I introduces and extends students’ skills in speaking, reading, writing and comprehension of the language. Students will gain knowledge of Spanish-speaking cultures. This class emphasizes vocabulary, basic grammar, syntax, and Spanish sounds so that students have a basic understanding of the language and its rules.
Spanish 2 - Spanish II advances students’ knowledge and ability to express themselves beyond basic communication via the written and spoken word. This class will continue to explore the Spanish-speaking world. Students can express more complex concepts in different settings.
French 1 - French I introduces and extends students’ skills in speaking, reading, writing and comprehension of the language. Students will gain knowledge of French-speaking cultures. This class emphasizes vocabulary, basic grammar, syntax, and French sounds so that students have a basic understanding of the language and its rules.
